Royal Mail Health, a new division of the UK postal operator, has been launched to work into the ‘healthcare at home’ industry.
The postal operator is working with pharmacies and other healthcare providers to meet people’s healthcare needs at home. This builds on its experience from the pandemic when it played a key role in distributing test kits, and returning test kits to labs for analysis.
Initially the postal operator is to deliver prescription medications to people’s homes, check on vulnerable people who are at home and provide links between pharmacies and the community.
The new head of Royal Mail Health is to be Stefan Kulik, who has a wealth of experience working in healthcare companies such as Johnson & Johnson. He said: “Royal Mail is uniquely placed to help the nation manage its health more easily, by bringing together two professions at the heart of the community: the postie and the chemist. As one of the country’s most trusted institutions, this is the right time for Royal Mail to build on the support it has provided during the pandemic and its existing partnerships with online pharmacy providers.
“We know the importance of delivering care to the nation’s doorstep and ensuring the reliable and safe delivery of medicines to ensure patients get the healthcare they need at the right time. We want to help everyone across the UK access their health needs quickly and conveniently, in whichever way they choose to.”
