Royal Mail hiring Christmas staff in Birmingham – how to apply

The Royal Mail is urgently hiring Christmas Casual workers at its Birmingham Mail Centre ahead of Christmas.

The job advertisements have surfaced on the Royal Mail website ahead of the festive season.

The Royal Mail0530 Group is appealing for workers, saying: “We are currently looking for Christmas Casuals at Birmingham Mail Centre, St Stephens Street, Aston.”

The pay rate is £8.72 an hour – rising to £9.40 –  with a range of shifts from early and late shifts to nights and weekends available.

The temp roles come at the Royal Mail’s busiest time of year.

The firm writes: “With so many parcels and letters coming through our warehouse doors, it’s no surprise that we need a few thousand extra helping hands to get everything where it needs to go.

“That’s why, every year, we hire temporary Mail Centre workers from all different walks of life to help us deliver Christmas across the UK.”

You enjoy working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Being proactive and detailed focused is key and you are flexible and adaptable to work on various tasks during a shift.

You must be able to push trolleys (up to 250kgs) and lift and move mail bags up to 11kg, and standing for long periods is comfortable for you.

No previous experience is needed.

The firm adds: “Just to let you know, we are not able to guarantee your preferred shift as shifts are offered on a first come first serve basis, and shift times may change depending of the amount of mail going through our centres.

“If your application is successful, we will offer you a role based on the shift preferences you choose in your application, so please select them thoughtfully.

“Our roles go quickly, so make sure you complete each stage of the process quickly to avoid disappointment.”
