Royal Mail hiring posties across Merseyside in time for Christmas

The Royal Mail is advertising a number of job vacancies across Merseyside – and it could be perfect if you fancy earning a bit of extra cash in the run up to Christmas.

Whether you’re searching for a new job that gets you out and about in the fresh air or fancy picking up shifts at a Royal Mail hub for the festive season, there are plenty of opportunities on offer.

The postal service is hiring postmen and postwomen to work across our region, with further vacancies for Christmas casual staff in the North West hub.

Their annual employment drives ahead of Christmas offer casual staff the opportunity to earn some extra money to help with all the expenses that come with the festive season.

Successful applicants for postie jobs need a full driving licence, and we’ve listed the roles which are available below.

Post person, Huyton

Operating out of the Huyton Delivery Office, on Westmorland Road, the role of a post person with driving is on offer.

The part-time role is 24 hours a week, between the hours of 1pm and 7pm from Wednesday to Saturday.

The successful candidate needs to be flexible and will be covering periods of leave for a fixed number of routes.

Responsibilities will include sorting the mail for a route, joining a colleague for a round and spending between four and six hours outside delivering mail.

The Royal Mail said: “From scorching summer days to the depths of winter, our postal workers play a vital role, delivering the mail. It’s a physically demanding job – but it’s one the nation relies on.”

More information about the role can be found here.

Post person, Woolton Office

As well as Huyton, the Royal Mail are looking for post people to operate outside of the Woolton Office, on Woolton Street.

Like the Huyton job, it is part time and 24 hours a week.

The shifts differ, though, and are between 9.30am and 8pm, five days a week.

The role will see a successful applicant working a “variety of shifts”, with one day off a week offered.

Royal Mail said it is a job for someone who loves the outdoors.

The company said: “From rural farms to city apartments, corner shops to business parks, whatever the weather (and, this being Britain, it can get quite extreme) we’re there, six days a week.

“That means you’ll need to be happy being out and about.”

More information about the job can be found here.

Christmas Casual, North West Hub

Although we’re just saying goodbye to summer, the Royal Mail is preparing for its busiest time of the year – Christmas.

The company is looking for mail processors at the North West Hub, in Warrington.

It said: “Royal Mail is now recruiting Christmas Casual Mail Processors.

“If you are 18 years of age or over, are punctual, reliable and have a flexible approach, you are the type of person we’re looking for.”

The pay is slightly higher than that of a post person, but the shifts are lates, nights and some weekend shifts.

Working in a team to hit deadlines, the role includes unloading wheeled containers, scanning and identifying parcels and moving mail.

More information about the role can be found here.
