The delivery firm says some addresses won’t receive their mail on time.
Royal Mail has issued a delivery disruption update for certain postcodes across the UK. Some areas will not have their mail delivered on time.
The delivery firm aims to post letters and parcels six days a week. However, it has said there’s been a number of disruptions that have slowed down the process in some areas.
Royal Mail said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.
“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”
It added: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
As of Friday, March 13, Royal Mail say letters and parcels have been moved across its air and road network to schedule.
All of its mail centres have reported that mail was processed and dispatched to schedule over the last 24-hours. Yet, 26 delivery offices across the UK have faced delays.
Offices in the likes of Bristol, Glasgow, Hull, Pontyclun and Swindon are among those affected.
It has had a knock on effect on 74 postcode areas across England, Wales and Scotland.
The delays come as Royal Mail is set to raise the price of stamps in April. The cost of a first class stamp will increase by 10p to £1.80, while a second class stamp will go up by 4p to 91p.
The price of a first class stamp was just 64p in 2016 – meaning it will have increased by 181% in the past 10 years.
Royal Mail said the increases are down to the rising cost of delivery as letter volumes fell and the number of addresses increased.
