The postal service has issued an updated list of postcodes that are affected by delays, as they warn that mail may not arrive on time due to sickness, resourcing and other issues.
Royal Mail has updated its alerts to warn 105 UK postcodes that they may see delays to their post this week. The delivery firm warned there are delays affecting the delivery of letters and parcels. It typically aims to reach all addresses six days a week.
Yet, delays have meant some post will not arrive on time. Just last week, Royal Mail warned 146 UK postcodes about delays in their areas. The warning spanned across the likes of Dundee, Hull, Penarth, Shrewsbury and Glasgow.
Over the weekend, Royal Mail’s air and road services operated to schedule. But, not all mail was processed or despatched to schedule at their Nottingham Mail Centre.
Royal Mail said: “Some mail posted in the DE and NG postcode areas on Friday, for delivery in other parts of the UK on Saturday.”
The postal service update their website daily to detail affected areas. As of Monday 16 February, 38 delivery offices have reported delays that are affecting 105 postcodes across the UK.
Royal Mail said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.
“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
