Royal Mail issues major delivery day warning to 57 UK postcodes – full list | Personal Finance | Finance

Royal Mail has issued warnings to households within 57 postcodes about potential delivery delays. The postal service said due to “high levels of sick absence, resourcing or other local factors”, deliveries may not be possible six days a week across the affected locations, in a new update.

Royal Mail said it would rotate deliveries and provide support to the impacted offices across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to minimise the delay to individual customers. The company also warned that the impacts of Storm Bram may cause “ongoing disruption to mail delivery, collection, and distribution” in areas where the Met Office issued an amber weather warning on Tuesday. The weather warning mainly covered south Wales, and Cornwall and Devon in southwest England.

It comes less than two weeks before Christmas at the busiest time of year for the service, which has already been fined for failing to deliver on time.

It was issued a £21million fine by Ofcom in October for missing its delivery targets between April 2024 and March this year.

The company was required to deliver 93% of first-class post and 98.5% of second-class deliveries on time. However, it fell well below for first-class mail at 77% in the 2024/25 financial year, and fared slightly higher at 92.5% for second-class mail.

The Royal Mail update shared on its website said it will keep customers in the impacted regions updated, explaining: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.

“In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.

“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”

It added: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
