Royal Mail issues service update after disruption this week

Royal Mail has issued a service update for Thursday, June 15, 2023, after the disruption yesterday caused delays.

Problems with the air, rail, road and mail centres networks affected select postcodes for a 24-hour period.

However, the postal service has reassured customers that there are no “significant issues” affecting their logistics operation today.

This means that deliveries and collection services will take place as expected across the UK.

A statement on the Royal Mail website read: “Deliveries are operating as normal across the UK today. We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.”

While no major issues were reported in the air, rail, road or mail centre networks today, one postcode may still face delays.

Households in Scotland that share the Auchterarder SUDO (PH3 and PH4) postcode have been identified as “most impacted” by local issues.

The postal service credited this to a range of local factors including staff absence and resourcing problems.

Royal Mail issued the following statement regarding the delays, which read: “In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sickness absence, resourcing, or other local factors.

“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.

“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”

The service apologised for the inconvenience and thanked its customers for understanding.

It urged people expecting to collect an item using their “Something for You” card to visit their website for more information.

This is where details of customer service point locations and opening hours can be found.
