Royal Mail has told Brits to expect potential disruptions in their postal service during this week’s icy blast, insisting “the safety of our people is our priority”.
Delays have been hitting customers since January 6 and it looks like the cold weather isn’t done yet, causing a real muddle for the post since wreaking havoc earlier this week.
Today could see snail-pace deliveries plopping through letterboxes in 17 UK postcodes across 11 hit regions. Royal Mail said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.”
Locals in Dunstable, Thornbury and Huntingdon might need to sit tight, as 11 delivery offices are tangled up in turbulence meaning parcel panic could set in.
Royal Mail added: “We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers normally receive.”

Royal Mail, which operates an air, rail and road network to transport letters and parcels between its distribution hubs, mail processing centres and delivery offices across the UK, reported that all logistics operations across its routes operated on schedule over the last 24 hours. This comes just days after more than 30 postcodes experienced delays on January 7, reports the Express.
The postal service revealed that mail centres in Gatwick, London Central, Manchester, Preston, and the South Midlands reported that not all mail was processed or dispatched as per schedule over the previous weekend.
