Royal Mail jobs as seasonal workers needed to help ‘deliver the magic of Christmas’

Christmas is on its way once again, with only 100 days until the big day. And with friends and family sending cards and gifts, Royal Mail is looking to recruit new staff to help with the increasing demand over the period.

The company is hiring seasonal mail sorters in Tonbridge and Rochester in order to “deliver the magic of Christmas” and help cope with its “busiest time of year”. Both locations offer flexible shits as well as onsite canteen facilities, breakout areas and access to a subsidised gym.

It reads on the Royal Mail’s website: “Whether it’s the Christmas card from a loved one or the gift they’ve always wanted, we deliver more to our customers – and you can too as a seasonal mail sorter, all while earning some extra cash to fill your Christmas stocking.

“Working at the heart of our team as one of our seasonal mail sorters you’ll play a key role in delivering Christmas to the nation.” Depending on the shifts, employees can earn between £12.29 and £14.81 per hour. Weekend shifts are also available.

Applicants must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability. The job requires people to push trolleys of up to 250kg as well as lift and move mails bags (up to 11kg).

It reads: “Helping us to deliver more for our customers is important , it’s a hands-on role, ensuring every parcel, letter and present reaches their destination safely.”

If sorting mails isn’t your thing, there are other roles available at Tonbridge Delivery, Medway Valley Delivery and Sevenoaks Delivery Offices as postperson with driving. This is a permanent contract, requiring 40 hours per week.
