Royal Mail jobs being advertised in Birmingham and the West Midlands

Royal Mail is currently advertising for hundreds of jobs across the country. The roles available in and around Birmingham include delivery drivers, vehicle technicians and cleaners.

While the positions are certainly not always easy, with a lot of physical exercise involved in some cases, they are certainly rewarding, allowing employees to play an essential part in their community. Founded in 1516 in London, the Royal Mail has since grown into the hardworking task force that exists today – ensuring the delivery of precious parcels and letters to people across the United Kingdom, six days a week.

Parcelforce collection and delivery driver – Birmingham

Salary: £21,119 per annum, increasing to £23,284 per annum on completion of a 6 month probation period

Working hours: 38 Full time hours per week with opportunity for overtime

Royal Mail is looking for a Parcelforce collection and delivery driver who is ‘naturally friendly’ and looking for a ‘long-term career in an ambitious and growing company’. The job advert reads: “A brilliant team player, you’ve the ability to build good relationships with everyone you work with – always seeking the best results for our customers.”

Postperson with driving – Northfield Delivery Office

Hourly Rate: £10.85 (aged 18+). £8.44 (aged 17), plus an additional £5.83 per hour Sunday premium

Working hours: 22 hours

The job advert for this role says: “From scorching summer days to the depths of winter, our postal workers play a vital role, delivering the mail. It’s a physically demanding job – but it’s one the nation relies on.”

Royal Mail says it is looking for ‘upbeat and self-motivated’ applicants who love the outdoors and have a good level of fitness.

Vehicle Technician – West Midlands Workshop in West Bromwich

Salary: Starting salary of £27,801 per annum plus a fleet allowance of £641.76 per annum

Working hours: 34.5 hour working week

Royal Mail is looking for professional vehicle technicians to perform a full range of inspections, diagnosis, maintenance and repair procedures on a range of vehicle, trailers and mechanical equipment operated by the Royal Mail Group. The advert adds: “As a team player who takes real pride in their work, you’ll be prepared to go the extra mile to ensure the job is done effectively.”

Mobile Cleaner – North West Midlands Mail Centre, Wolverhampton

Salary: £9.33 per hour Salary will increase to £10.20 per hour after 24 months

Working hours: Full time, 37 Hours and 30 Minutes per week

The job advert for this role states: “As a mobile commercial cleaning operative you will be responsible for several locations in WV postcode area covering annual leave, absences etc. You’ll be responsible for variety of tasks including toilet cleaning, washing walls, vacuuming, emptying bins and dusting, dusting and sanitising surfaces safely and professionally to a high standard.”
