The 12-stamp collection celebrates Hornby Model Railways, featuring 100 years of iconic British model locomotives on February 12. The new set showcases historic Hornby models, capturing the craftsmanship and nostalgia of generations of collectors and railway enthusiasts.
David Gold, director of external affairs & policy, Royal Mail, said: “Hornby trains entertained millions, preserved the romance of rail travel, and become a cultural icon of British design and imagination.
“Each of these stamps celebrates a piece of history, of Hornby’s craftsmanship and its role in British culture for generations.”
The main set includes eight stamps, each featuring a different Hornby model, such as the LMS Princess Elizabeth, the BR 4MT tank locomotive, and the InterCity 125 High Speed Train.
Four additional stamps in a miniature sheet highlight classic Hornby packaging, catalogue covers, and promotional artwork from different eras.
Martyn Weaver, brand MD, Hornby, said: “To see Hornby Model Railways celebrated on Royal Mail stamps is a real honour.
“Hornby has been part of British life for more than a century, inspiring creativity, craftsmanship, and a lifelong interest in railways and modelling.”
The stamps can be pre-ordered from the Royal Mail website.
