Royal Mail : launches feature for posties to capture photos on delivery

Royal Mail is rolling out a new feature across the UK, offering photos taken by posties at the delivery address as confirmation of delivery for its customers using Royal Mail Tracked services*. The feature will give Royal Mail’s sending and receiving customers increased visibility of how and where mail is delivered and further peace of mind as a result.

The Royal Mail app and website will show the postie’s photo of the delivered item when customers input their tracking details. Customers can also access the photo via email notifications from Royal Mail. Photos will also be made available where items are delivered to a neighbour.

The launch of this new feature follows the roll-out of new state of the art handheld devices to posties, announced in September 2021. The new devices have enhanced scanning and photo capabilities to support this new feature. The new device was selected following extensive trialling of different devices by postmen and postwomen across the UK who were impressed by the range of features it offered.

Nick Landon, Chief Commercial Officer at Royal Mail, said: “The photo capture feature is another example of how Royal Mail is innovating to increase convenience for customers, whilst continuing to deliver trust at the doorstep. We are always looking for new ways to ensure we provide the best service possible to all of our customers.”
