Royal Mail launches new stamp collection celebrating spiders in the UK

A new collection of stamps from the Royal Mail has been revealed, which celebrates spiders found within the UK.

These 10 stamps feature original illustrations of the insects which include the Sand Bear Spider, Cucumber Spider and Candy-striped Spider.

Previously butterflies, bees and bugs have been illustrated on stamps.

The stamps and a range of collectable products are available to pre-order from today on the Royal Mail website.

The stamps are a mixture of first and second class, with the second class stamps being for the following spiders:

Meanwhile, the first-class stamps are for the following spiders:

  • Ladybird Spider

  • Candy-striped Spider

  • Wasp Spider

  • Zebra Spider

  • Heather Crab Spider

A description of the products on the website reads: “Ten silk-spinning predators feature on new stamps paying tribute to the UK’s spiders.

“Bold and colourful artwork brings to life the beastly beauty of 10 amazing arachnids in celebration of the diversity of species recorded across Britain.”



Announcing the release on social media, the organisation shared: “Announced today! ‘Spiders’ Stamps & Collectibles featuring 10 UK spider species.

“Creepy crawly or misunderstood beauty? Comment below with your thoughts.”
