Royal Mail launches Santa Mail 2024 to send Christmas letters to North Pole

Royal Mail has announced the return of a beloved Christmas tradition offering “a helping hand to one of its most special customers” – Santa Claus himself.

With just six weeks to go until the big day, children are invited to post their letters to Father Christmas as Royal Mail launches its hugely popular Santa Mail service for 2024. The postal service has been helping to “make Christmas wishes come true” with the special service for more than 60 years, with hundreds of thousands of children sending letters to Santa from all across the UK.

Royal Mail has told customers that Santa is happy to receive his cards and letters now, but due to the busy festive period ahead, children should post their letters no later than Monday, December 9, 2024. Letters must be in a stamped envelope and sent to the following address: Santa/Father Christmas, Santa’s Grotto, Reindeerland, XM4 5HQ.

Once all letters have been received, Royal Mail will reveal their guide as to what children want for Christmas this year after getting a sneak peek at Santa’s post to compile a list of the top 10 most wished-for toys. Meanwhile, those who write to the big man himself can expect to receive a special reply through their letterbox.

Lisa Luveniyali, Royal Mail Chief Elf, said: “Royal Mail plays a very special part in the nation’s Christmas preparations. We are proud that for over 60 years, Santa has allowed us to help manage the hundreds of thousands of special letters he receives from boys and girls across the country.

“His special team of elves at Royal Mail especially enjoy taking a peek at what children are asking for as well as helping Santa reply to these special letters. Don’t forget to use a stamp and include your full name and address on your letter so Santa can reply to you!”

For the grown-ups, Royal Mail has also shared its last recommended posting dates for Christmas 2024, which are as follows:

  • Wednesday, December 18: 2nd Class and 2nd Class Signed For
  • Friday, December 20: 1st Class, 1st Class Signed For and Royal Mail Tracked 48
