Royal Mail looking for Christmas workers in Coventry

The final days of the British summer are winding down as autumn and winter approaches. But this means Christmas will be on its way soon.

Christmas is a busy period for many, with plenty of people relying on the postal service to send gifts across the country. To meet the high demand, Royal Mail is looking to recruit new staff to help over the festive period.

The company wants to take on drivers and vehicle technicians in Coventry who will ‘help deliver Christmas to the nation’. Applicants will need to ‘deliver for the local community because you care about people’ according to the firm.

On its website, Royal Mail said: “Every Christmas at Royal Mail, we deliver festive cheer to communities all across the nation, but in order to do that, we need some extra pairs of hands. The festive period is our busiest time of year, and without our seasonal workers, delivering the magic of Christmas wouldn’t be possible. Whether it’s the Christmas card from a loved one or the gift they’ve always wanted, we deliver more than mail.”

The jobs will be paid monthly with an hourly rate of £12.29 per hour and will be seasonal hours, meaning the working hours will fluctuate depending on peaks. You will be required to work 30 hours a week across Monday to Sunday, with all the contracts permanent and coming with overtime pay 1.25 times more than the normal rate.

Royal Mail is looking for ‘upbeat, independent and self-motivated’ individuals who think of themselves as a ‘people-person’ and a ‘friendly face in the community’. They must have a strong sense of community and take pride in what they do, as well as be happy to walk for long periods and work outside in any weather conditions.

In Coventry and Warwickshire there are several vacancies for delivery drivers in Coventry North and Coventry South Delivery Offices. There is also one vehicle technician vacancy at the Coventry workshop, as well as one vacancy for a driver in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
