Royal Mail is currently exploring the possibility of a new delivery site in the Brighton and Hove area, it has been revealed.
It is said that the company’s considerations have turned to find a new site due to an increase in the number of parcels it currently deals with.
This is at the same time as a simultaneous drop in the volume of letters being sent.

On a website soon to host the company’s public consultation it stated: “Royal Mail is preparing exciting plans for a new state-of-the-art delivery office in Patcham.”

The page continued that a full website will go live soon.
It said: “This website will be developed to host a range of information about the project and provide a way for you to give us feedback on the emerging proposals.”
Members of the public have been invited to consultation events which have been listed to take place on Thursday, January 27 and Saturday, January 29.
“The views of the local community are important to Royal Mail and we welcome your feedback on our proposals,” the organisation continued.
“There will be a presentation of the emerging proposals followed by an opportunity for you to put your questions to the project team to find out more.
“We very much hope that you will be able to join us for one of these events.”
A recording of the consultation events is expected to be made available at a later date to anybody unable to attend.
According to an artist’s diagram of the existing plan where the site is proposed, the new site will be located at the edge of the A27 and close to the Brighton and Hove Crescent Cricket Club grounds.
A spokesperson from the Royal Mail told SussexLive: “With postmen and women delivering more parcels and fewer letters, Royal Mail is looking at its delivery office in the Brighton and Hove area.
“We have identified a site in Patcham for a new state of the art delivery office.
“We have launched a public consultation in the area to seek the views of local residents on the proposals prior to submitting a planning application to Brighton and Hove Council for their consideration.”
It is unclear whether there will be changes to job numbers in the area, though this is not thought to be the case.
Details of the consultation can be found online.
