Royal Mail postal deliveries to the Isle of Wight take longer

As I sit here, at 6pm on December 23, visiting my parents in the great North West of England, this is the situation with a very well known global shopping giant.

I can order as late as 9am tomorrow morning, and have delivery by 7pm tomorrow. That’s Christmas Eve, folks.

Many other items would need to be ordered by 7pm tonight for guaranteed delivery tomorrow.

However, if I change the delivery address to my home on the Isle of Wight, that very same item would arrive on January 3.

How does it take ten extra days to get to the Isle of Wight, even taking into account some Bank Holiday shenanigans?

Even a couple of weeks ago, “Next Day” (and sometimes even Same Day) delivery was eight to 11 days longer to the Island.

Given that both delivery services are Royal Mail, I think our Island deserves an explanation.
