A Royal Mail postie has been caught on camera violently kicking a woman’s puppy in the face on her doorstep — leaving the dog cowering in fear and her owner demanding answers.

The shocking incident took place in Leeds, West Yorkshire, last month while Nikki Walker, 49, was working from home, reports the Mirror. Her one-year-old rescue cockapoo, Bella, ran to the front gate after hearing it open — but moments later, a yelp of pain sent Nikki rushing to the door.

There she found a Royal Mail worker delivering two letters. She says the postie denied any wrongdoing, and when she mentioned checking her doorbell camera, he allegedly told her to “do what the f**k she wants.”

After viewing the footage, Nikki was horrified to see her beloved pet being kicked in the face. “I sat next to her to watch the video and when I did I was absolutely fuming,” Nikki told The Sun.

“She was wagging her tail. She wasn’t aggressive or barking. She’s a faithful puppy. She loves cuddles, attention and she’d sit on your knee for hours.”

Bella ran straight into the house and curled up on the sofa in distress — behaviour Nikki said was completely out of character.

The mum-of-four made a formal complaint to Royal Mail. She claims the company responded by offering her £100 and a home visit to apologise.

Meanwhile, the postie involved has been removed from the delivery route and will no longer visit Nikki’s address, as per her request.

However, Nikki says Royal Mail also told her that two other posties had reported Bella growling at them. The company insists the safety of its employees is paramount.

In a statement, a Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We are aware of an incident involving one of our postmen and a dog in Leeds. Our first priority as an employer is to ensure the welfare and safety of our people who provide a valuable service to our customers.

“The vast majority of dog owners are very responsible and keep their pets under control. However, last year, there were over 2,200 dog attacks on postmen and women in the UK — some resulting in life-changing injuries. We continue to appeal to dog owners to secure their pets when the postie arrives to help reduce the number of attacks, particularly at the door and in the garden.”

As a condition for Royal Mail to continue deliveries, Nikki was required to install new fencing at a personal cost of £80. She says the move makes her feel like Bella is being treated as a dangerous dog, despite never having bitten anyone.

“She’s a loving pup, not a threat,” Nikki added. “She didn’t deserve that.”
