Royal Mail postman filmed on Ring doorbell lobbing parcel 30ft into garden at Margate home

This is the moment a reckless postman hurls a parcel over a garden gate – without even attempting to ring the bell.

Homeowner Damien Cooke, of Margate , was left stunned when he saw the Royal Mail postie lob the package 30ft.

Mr Cooke, who runs an estate agents in the town, got a Ring.com notification on his mobile alerting him that someone was approaching his house and witnessed the lazy act yesterday (Thursday) morning.

Comparing the postman to a former Brit Olympic shot putter, the 49-year-old said: “It was the best throw I’ve ever seen.

“He was like Geoff Capes, it must have gone about 30ft.

“The parcel had a few dents in it, but luckily nothing was broken.

“The slightly frustrating thing for me is it gives me a notification when someone is there.

“But he didn’t even ring the intercom. He just threw it.

“He could have just placed it over the fence.”

Royal Mail says it is investigating the incident, and stresses that all postal items are important to the service.

A spokesman said: “We expect the highest standards of behaviour of all our colleagues at all times.

‘We apologise for this incident and are looking into it.”

“The vast majority of our postmen and postwomen are dedicated to delivering the UK’s mail safely and efficiently.

“They have played a crucial role in keeping the UK connected during the coronavirus crisis.”

Mr Cooke says other delivery workers have either used the intercom system to gain entry to the front garden, or simply place parcels carefully over the gate.

“I just want them to do that next time,” he said.

“I don’t want anyone to lose their jobs, particularly in this climate.

“I found it quite funny, but my wife didn’t because it was her parcel.”
