The Royal Mail has today unveiled a new collection of stamps showcasing both the history of the Royal Marines, and the modern day operations. There are eight stamps in the main set, with a further four illustrating changes to the Royal Marine Commando uniform throughout history.
The set depicts some of the key roles within the Royal Marines, including aviation operations, mountain operations, and amphibious operations. A separate set of four stamps show changing military uniform, spanning centuries. Illustrated for the Royal Mail by Graham Turner, the set explores Royal Marine uniform from 1664 through to 1944, explaining the rank and year of each uniform.
The sets are available for purchase from today via the Royal Mail website or by phone on 03457 641 641. The full set of all 12 stamps retails for £17.50.

David Gold, Director of Public Affairs and Policy, Royal Mail said: “Throughout their history the Royal Marines have served around the globe by sea and by land, as sea soldiers and now as commandos. These stamps showcase some of the key roles and operations of the Royal Marines today.”
The set displays roles and operations within the Royal Marine force. The eight roles depicted include aviation operations; cold-weather operations; mountain operations; arid-climate operations; commando training; Band Service; amphibious operations; and maritime security operations.
