Royal Mail is urging parents not to miss the cut-off for getting children’s letters to Father Christmas, as its annual Santa Mail scheme enters its busiest period of the year.
The reminder coincides with Santa’s List Day – the date many children sit down to write their wish lists in the hope of receiving a reply confirming they’ve made it onto Father Christmas’s radar.
Royal Mail has set Wednesday, December 10, as the final posting day for letters to reach the North Pole in time.
In a video shared on the company’s Facebook page, a Royal Mail employee wearing a Santa hat said: “Christmas is coming, and you know what that means! Santa Mail is back! Santa can’t wait to read all your letters! To make sure your letters arrive in time, send them by Wednesday December 10th, 2025.”
Parents are asked to address envelopes to Santa/Father Christmas, Santa’s Grotto, Reindeerland, XM4 5HQ and ensure a stamp is applied. Children must include their full name and address on the back so Santa knows where to send his reply. Royal Mail says no extra postage is required for the return letter.
Accessibility information – including braille and British Sign Language options – is available on the Santa Mail section of the Royal Mail website.
The message has prompted a flurry of online engagement, with hundreds of reactions and families tagging relatives to make sure they don’t miss this year’s deadline. Royal Mail is encouraging people to post letters early to avoid disappointment as festive volumes rise.
Santa’s List Day is also traditionally the moment Father Christmas is said to finalise who has been naughty or nice ahead of Christmas Eve.
