Royal Mail : response to Unite/CMA calling off planned Industrial Action

A Royal Mail Spokesperson said: “We are very pleased Unite/CMA members have called off planned strike action from Wednesday 20 to Friday 22 July.

“There were no grounds for industrial action. The extended consultation on our recent restructure concluded earlier this year, and the restructuring is complete. We committed to protecting pay for all managers who stayed with Royal Mail, and the majority have seen an increase in their earnings. Managers were able to request voluntary redundancy with a package of up to two years’ salary, which was over-subscribed.

“We have agreed a range of proposals with Unite/CMA relating to the restructure and look forward to working with them to implement the proposals.”
