Royal Mail senior manager confirms post box at Bonar Bridge will be replaced

Royal Mail has confirmed that the post box removed from the wall at Bonar Bridge Post Office is to be replaced.

The box was taken away when renovations took place at the post office last year and a petition was recently launched by a local resident in a bid to have it restored.

Royal Mail has responsibility for post boxes.

Now Michael Hogg, Royal Mail senior public affairs manager, has said that a postbox will be provided, although not in the same place.

In a letter to constituency MP Jamie Stone, he wrote: “Preliminary works for the installation of a new postbox have already commenced. Whilst we would like to install the postbox outside the post office on Lairg Road, unfortunately this is not possible.

“After a site visit and CAT scan of the proposed location, underground utilities were identified.

“We are now exploring the possibility of installing the postbox nearby, and an engineer will visit the area to see if a suitable location can be found.”
