Royal Mail shares full list of UK areas affected by delays

Royal Mail has warned customers expecting deliveries in England and Wales that they may face delays today, Friday, July 21.

While the bulk of the service is operating as normal across the country, the courier claimed that issues in local offices have disturbed the usual flow of work.

The company usually aims to deliver to “all addresses” that they have mail for six days a week, however, this isn’t always achieved.

Their service update read: “In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.”

Five UK postcodes were identified as “most affected” by the disruption today.

Deliveries are expected to be delayed in the following areas:

  • Cardiff West Delivery Office (CF5)
  • Camberley Delivery Office (GU15-GU17 and GU95)
  • Hendon Delivery Office (NW4)

Royal Mail apologised for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their understanding.

While deliveries may not come on time, customers can still collect items using their “Something for You” cards by visiting their local customer service point location.

The Wokingham Delivery Office has also been impacted by disruption today after it was forced to close due to flooding.

Customers in the RG40 and RG41 postcode areas have been advised that delivery and collection services will operate differently as a result.

They said: “If you’ve recently received a ‘Something for you’ card and wish to collect your mail, please wait until we update this page to confirm Wokingham Delivery Office has reopened.

“Contingency plans are in place to deliver as much mail as possible from a neighbouring delivery office.”

Despite localised issues, Royal Mail reassured customers that its air, rail and road networks operated to schedule over the last 24 hours.

This involves the movement of letters and parcels between distribution hubs, mail processing centres and delivery offices around the UK.

Households living in the affected postcode areas have been urged to check back for further updates tomorrow regarding local disruption.
