Royal Mail shares full list of UK areas affected by delays

On Tuesday June 6, Royal Mail told customers what they can expect from the day in terms of deliveries.

Royal Mail aims to deliver to all addresses it has mail for, six days a week, however this is not always possible due to high levels of sickness absence, local issues and resourcing.

Poor weather conditions can also disrupt the smooth delivery of mail in some circumstances.

The postal service explained that in the small number of local offices impacted by delays, Royal Mail will do what it can to mitigate any adverse effects to customers.

It stated: “We will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.

“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”

Royal Mail apologised to all customers affected by today’s postal delays.

Customers who need to collect an item for which Royal Mail has left a ‘Something for You’ card should consult royalmail.com/services-near-you for more information.

Royal Mail gave an update on the movement of mail through its air, road and rail networks.

Royal Mail’s air and road networks operated to schedule over the last 24 hours.

However, there was a slight disruption to the postal service’s road networks.

Royal Mail explained: “Last night a vehicle arrived late into London’s Princess Royal Distribution Centre following delays on the M6 J1-J2 due to an accident, further compounded by road closures and diversions along the route.

“As a result, a small amount of mail missed the scheduled outbound service for Romford Mail Centre.

“This may mean some mail due for delivery today in the E, IG and RM postcode areas will arrive later than planned.”
