Royal Mail aims to deliver to all addresses six days a week. However, this is not always possible due to resourcing issues, high levels of sickness, absences, poor weather conditions and other local factors.
When particular local offices are affected, Royal Mail rotates deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.
It also provides targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore service to the high standard customers would normally receive.
The postal service apologised for any inconvenience caused to customers this weekend, sharing which UK areas may be most impacted by delays.
Offices most impacted this weekend
Finchley Church End DO (N3)
Maida Hill DO (W9)
Ware DO (SG9, SG10, SG11 and SG12)
Royal Mail urged customers: “If you need to collect an item for which we’ve left a ‘Something for You’ card, please check royalmail.com/services-near-you for details of our Customer Service Point locations and opening hours.”
Royal Mail added that a specific town in Wales will be affected this weekend, stating: “The JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion takes place in Aberystwyth this weekend, Saturday, September 2 and Sunday, September 3.
“As a result, deliveries in the SY23 and SY24 postcode areas will be limited for the duration of the event.”

Royal Mail also detailed how deliveries will be affected by The Tour of Britain cycling event, which takes place from Sunday September 3 to Sunday September 10.
Royal Mail told customers: “Please visit the Tour of Britain website to find details of the areas in which disruption to deliveries and other services may be affected during the event.
“Disruption throughout this period may be subject to change, with little or no warning. We will aim to work as normal, although this might not always be possible due to road closures and access around the event locations and surrounding areas. Customers in the affected areas have been informed of the potential disruption.”
Customer Service points will remain open for customers to drop off their mail. They can check opening times by visiting royalmail.com/services-near-you. However, the postal service warned that if it has not left a ‘Something for You’ card, the mail will be unavailable for collection.
