Royal Mail shares new postal delays including areas ‘disrupted’ by 2023 London Marathon

Royal Mail is currently experiencing delays in some local offices due to high levels of sickness absences, resourcing or other local factors. On Saturday, April 22, Royal Mail shared the 17 UK areas most impacted this weekend.

Royal Mail continued: “Deliveries are operating as normal across the UK today.”

The postal service explained that while it aims to deliver to all addresses it has mail for six days a week, for a small number of local offices this may temporarily not be possible.

High levels of sick absence, resourcing and other local factors can contribute to delays. Poor weather conditions can also affect the postal service.

Royal Mail explained that in these cases it does what it can to “minimise the delay to individual customers”.

“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”

The postal service also gave an update regarding international deliveries.

“Following the restoration of Royal Mail International export services, delivery of international items may take slightly longer than usual.

“Customers using International Tracked services may notice different tracking information as items leave the UK.

“We are seeing delays to some tracking events in a small number of destinations.

“As we continue to work with our partners to resolve this, if you cannot see tracking information for your items it is likely to be available on the overseas’ posts tracking websites.”

Royal Mail urged customers to check https://www.royalmail.com/sending/international/overseas-postal-tracking for more information.

Customers sending items requiring a customs declaration such as goods or gifts internationally have been asked to purchase postage online rather than using stamps or meters. This can be done through shipping solutions or over the counter at Post Office branches.
