Royal Mail shares update on post parcel delays this weekend – full list of areas

Royal Mail has been dealing with an increase in demand as the coronavirus crisis continues. It has shared the latest update for Britons across the UK.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson shared a “roadmap” of when various industries could reopen in England.

However, with non-essential retail stores staying closed for the time being, many Britons have been relying on online shopping.

This has caused an increase in the number of parcels being processed by Royal Mail.

In some cases, this has brought delays in customers getting some deliveries.

The postal service will regularly update Britons with the latest changes and delays.

In a statement released today, it gave an update on how services are running this weekend.

It explained the postal service is expected to run as normal today and tomorrow.

The statement said: “Weekend delivery and collection services are expected to take place on Saturday 27 February.

“Deliveries may also be made in some areas on Sunday 28 February. There are no collections on Sunday 28 February.”

While Royal Mail are expected to run as normal in most parts of the UK, a small number of areas could experience delays.

“Deliveries may be disrupted in some areas due to resourcing issues in a small number of our delivery offices,” the statement added.

“We’re working hard to deliver as comprehensive a service as possible to all our customers during these challenging times.”

The statement continued: “Due to resourcing issues, associated self-isolation and safety measures, deliveries in the following areas are likely to be disrupted this week.

“In those areas that are temporarily affected by very high levels of absence, customers can expect deliveries at least every other day.

“It will only be in extreme cases when this may not be possible, but these are the exceptions and are listed below.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. We’re working hard to deliver as comprehensive a service as possible with the resource available to support these offices.”
