Royal Mail slammed as post in South London is ‘left out in the rain for 4 days’

Residents in Crystal Palace say they have been having a nightmare with their mail, with post allegedly being left out in the rain for days and vital letters not being delivered for weeks.

After one woman posted a picture on social media of rain-soaked letters, other people living nearby came forward with similar problems.

One resident complained that they received a water-damaged letter.

It was claimed that letters were left in a Royal Mail trolley on Maberley Road, on the border of Croydon and Bromley, over the weekend, when it rained almost constantly.

Hayley Kirkman, who lives nearby, noticed the post left out in the rain and said it was there for four days.

She told My London: “I haven’t received a bank card, birthday cards, hospital appointments. It’s been around two weeks with no post.

“Lots of complaints have been made but it has not been sorted.”

About the post that was allegedly left out in the rain for days, Hayley said: “The letters have just been laying there for the world to see! The trolley is not even locked and secure.”

In response to Hayley posting her complaint on a local Facebook group, other residents came forward with their issues with the post.

One said: “Shocking!!!! I also called today and complained as [I’ve had] no post for two weeks … near Crystal Palace station.

“That’s so bad, post sitting on the street like that, it’s not good with identity thief.”

Another wrote: “I’ve put in a complaint as well as I have been waiting for a letter from the beginning of August and it still hasn’t arrived and another from September 10 again still hasn’t arrived. Royal Mail haven’t given a rat’s a**e if I’m honest, it’s made me miss deadlines.”

Royal Mail has not yet responded to My London’s request for a comment.
