Royal Mail stamps set to be unusable within months as warning issued to Brits

Thousands of Royal Mail stamps will be unusable within months – with the company rolling out a new barcode system. It’s said the change will make it safer and easier to send out letters.

Birmingham Live reports that the change will mean people with traditional stamps have only a few months to use them. From the end of January, the old-style stamps with the image of The Queen won’t be usable.

Instead, only the new stamps complete with their new barcodes will be valid, and you’ll face a surcharge trying to use anything otherwise. It’s in an attempt to make letter sending more secure but it doesn’t make post any easier or cheaper for customers to track.
