A picture from the scene showed the rear of a red Royal Mail delivery van in the garden of the property, shortly after having “smashing through the garden fence and into the wall.” Police confirmed that no one was injured during the incident. The snap was posted into a public Facebook Group ‘Pontefract Community Page’ and it certainly caused quite a stir amongst residents who said the road is “notorious” for speeding.

Posting the snap, one member of the group Gra Taylor, penned: “Well it looks like the postman is having a bad day”, Lauren Thomson responded: “That’s some decent at your door delivering”, whilst Sarah Cooper wrote: “It tried over taking a different Royal Mail van, clipped the van instead and went straight through the fence into the wall under the window.”

Macca Birch added: “Parcel has been delivered”, whilst Ellie May Law commented: “took same day delivery on a whole new level” and Ceejay Smith quipped: “Nothing like a good door to door service” and Sara Louise Challis joked: “Can’t park there mate!”

A CCTV video captured by a local resident was posted in the comments, the clip shows a Royal Mail van overtaking another Royal Mail van at speed while the other is attempting to turn right. A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We take such incidents very seriously and will be carrying out an investigation.”
