Royal Mail statement on future of Nuneaton delivery office

Royal Mail bosses have issued a statement over the future of its Nuneaton delivery office.

It is no secret the current location, in Church Street opposite the car park, has to move.

This is due to regeneration plans in the Church Street area of town, which includes building a new library.

It has been claimed the firm is looking at a venue in Bermuda Park.

CoventryLive put this rumour to Royal Mail.

While a spokesperson would not confirm or deny if this was true, they said discussions were on-going to find a new home for the delivery office.

A Royal Mail Spokesperson: “We are working with Warwickshire County Council in relation to sites in Nuneaton.”

What is happening in the area

The current home of the delivery office in Church Street forms part of the parcel on land that will have to pave the way for a new almost £20m library and offices.

Nearby Wilkos is also looking for a new home and further claims have been made that this will be the former Wilkos store in Queens Road.

The regeneration plans in the area form part of the huge Transforming Nuneaton programme.

This is also set to bring a new Hilton hotel on the Co-op car park off Abbey Street as well as five screen cinema as well as a multi-storey car park and a food hall.
