Royal Mail statement on new home for Nuneaton delivery office

Royal Mail has said land on the Bermuda estate is a ‘prospective site’ for the town’s delivery and sorting office. As we reported in our newsletter, planning applications have been submitted for Royal Mail signage on land off Hazell Way.

Also within the application documents for the signage it states: “Construction of new warehouse and distribution depot/ postal sorting office.”

It is no secret that a new home has to be found for the town’s delivery and sorting office as the land it currently sits on in Church Street will form part of a major regeneration of this part of the town centre.

A Royal Mail spokesman told CoventryLive that it is a prospective site. No other planning applications for any other area of town have been submitted to the borough council.

“We are working with Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council to support their regeneration plans for the area,” the spokesman said. “It is normal on a development of this type for Royal Mail to submit plans for prospective sites ahead of confirming a site, and this application relates to one such prospective site.

“We are operating as normal from our existing Nuneaton Delivery Office on Church Street.”

The decision date for the Hazell Way signage application has been set as August 2.
