Royal Mail strike dates in run-up to Christmas – full list

Royal Mail staff are set to strike again. It is due to a dispute over pay.

From tomorrow (October 20), workers will walk out on 18 days from October to December – covering the busy run-up to Christmas Day – including Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Over summer more than 100,000 postal workers took industrial action. The CWU said members felt forced into such a position after fighting for a ‘dignified, proper pay rise’.

The union rejected an offer of a 2 per cent pay rise. The CWU believed an increase at this level would lead to a “dramatic reduction” in workers’ living standards because of soaring inflation. When the latest strikes were announced, CWU general secretary Dave Ward said the decision “matched the level of anger” members felt.
