Royal Mail strike today, Thursday, October 13th, can cause postal service disruptions

A 24-hour Royal Mail strike will commence today, Thursday, October 13th, and it is expected to cause severe Postal service disruptions.

The Royal Mail strike is a part of the protests arranged by members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU).

The Union has revealed a total of 19 days of strikes happening in October and November to highlight the demands of the Royal Mail workers.

Royal Mail is on strike today, Thursday, October 13th

According to CWU updates, the 24-hour Royal Mail strike will start on October 13th, at 4:00 am, and continue for a whole day.

A second strike is scheduled for 24 hours from 4:00 am on Thursday, 20th October, to Friday 21st October.

A third strike is also scheduled for the month of October on Tuesday, the 25th, from 4:00 am to Wednesday, the 26th.

Will there be Postal delivery on Royal Mail strike day?

Despite having a full system working to cause minimum disruptions, reports suggest that the Royal Mail Strike today, Thursday, October 13th, will cause disruption in postal deliveries.

On the days of the strikes, no letter will be delivered, the official site has announced beforehand, but special deliveries will be prioritized and delivered.

The Royal Mail says: “We cannot however guarantee delivery by 9 am or 1 pm next day for items posted on Wednesday, 12 October, Thursday 13 October and Friday 14 October or for items posted from Wednesday 19 October up to and including items posted on Wednesday 26 October. We will suspend the delivery guarantee for these specified periods.”

As per the officials, Royal Mail will “prioritise the delivery of Covid test kits and medical prescriptions wherever possible” on the days of strikes along with other Tracked24 parcels.

Deliveries of international parcels and letters will resume the day after the industrial action finishes, Royal Mail has noted.
