Royal Mail suspends all Edinburgh and Lothians deliveries due to Storm Eowyn

Royal Mail are the latest company to halt their services during a red weather warning for Storm Eowyn which is causing havoc across the capital.

The Met Office warned people across the central belt to avoid travelling unless absolutely necessary as there is a danger to life.

With this in mind Royal Mail have advised they will not be sending out their employees to carry out deliveries while the red weather warning is in place as the safety of their workers is paramount.

It is understood the service will carry out outdoor activities once the weather warning has passed but they did warn customers there will be issues with delivery, collection and distribution across the country due to the storm.

“A red weather warning signals a risk to life and advises people not to travel into, out of, through or within those areas for the period the warning is in place.

“Royal Mail takes these warnings very seriously and follows government advice. As a result, in areas covered by a red weather warning we may temporarily suspend all outdoor activities for the duration the warning is in place.
