A ROYAL Mail train heading to Scotland was boarded by two teens in a suspected robbery attempt after they allegedly tampered with the signalling system.
Officers were called to the line at Lockerbie, Dumfries and Galloway, just after 1.40am following reports that two young men gained access to the carriage.

The pair allegedly damaged the signalling equipment in the process in a bid to halt the train.
Two teens, aged 17 and 18, were found on the carriage and later arrested.
Both have been charged with malicious mischief, theft and threatening and abusive behaviour
It is not believed that anything was stolen from the Royal Mail train but a number of parcels were allegedly interfered with.
Enquiries into the alleged incident are currently ongoing.
A number of Avanti West Coast and TransPennine Express services between Scotland and England were affected by the incident.
The Caledonian Sleeper between Glasgow Central and London Euston also faced disruption.
Disruption to railway lines lasted until around 9.30am this morning.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the line in Lockerbie at 1.42am this morning (1 August) following reports that two young men had gained access to a Royal Mail train, damaging signalling equipment in the process.
“Officers attended and a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old were located in a carriage and arrested.
“At this stage it’s not believed anything was stolen but a number of parcels in the carriage had been interfered with.
“Both young men have been charged with malicious mischief, theft and threatening and abusive behaviour.
“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information can contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 38 of 01/08/23.”
A Royal Mail spokesperson confirmed they are aware of the incident and are supporting British Transport Police in their investigation.
