Good morning. Royal Mail is to cut about two thousand jobs as part of a drastic restructuring plan, with its UK business expected to be heavily loss-making this year.
Keith Williams, the interim executive chairman, said the company had “not adapted quickly enough” to the trend in the UK of more parcels and fewer letters being sent, a trend that the Covid-19 crisis has accelerated.
The blunt message from Mr Williams, the former boss of British Airways, comes after Rico Back was ousted as chief executive last month and Mr Williams took direct control of Royal Mail himself.
