Royal Mail unveils final collection of stamps featuring late Queen Elizabeth II

The last collection of special stamps featuring the late Queen Elizabeth II’s silhouette has been unveiled by the Royal Mail.

Twelve stamps have been commissioned to mark the 100th anniversary of iconic steam train the Flying Scotsman, depicting the locomotive at various locations across the UK, including the Ribblehead Viaduct and London’s Victoria Station.

Another miniature collection consisting of four stamps pays homage to poster artwork for the Flying Scotsman and London North Eastern Railway in the 1920s and ’30s, reports the Daily Record.

The late Queen’s silhouette has been etched on special stamps since 1966. Stamp illustrator David Gentleman is responsible for the design, adapted from Mary Gillick’s original, which has been in constant use on British stamps since 1968.

Following the late monarch’s death last September, future special stamps will feature a silhouette of the King, the Royal Mail said.
