Royal Mail vans in Station Approach, Hereford, were “well alight”

Two crews from Hereford Fire Station were called at 7.06am today (Thursday, October 2), to a small vehicles on fire at the Royal Mail sorting office in Station Approach.

Firefighters found four vans “well alight”, with two firefighters extinguishing the blaze using two hosereel jets and a covering jet.

 A spokesperson for the fire service said the vehicles were then inspected using a thermal imaging camera, and adjacent unaffected vans were relocated.

“There were no casualties but police also attended,” the spokesperson added.

“The incident was marked as pending closure at 8.10am.”

Fire-damaged vans could be seen in the car park at the sorting office this morning.

The road remained unaffected, with postal workers seen entering and leaving the centre.

Royal Mail has been contacted for comment.
