Royal Mail vans parked on street ‘at all times’

Royal Mail has apologised for using a residential street to park its vans.

People living on Woodlands Terrace, in the Kingswood area of South Gloucestershire, said the vehicles were left on the road every day.

One resident Emily, added: “Woodland Terrace residents don’t have driveways so we rely on street parking – [Royal Mail] should not be using local residential roads to park their vans, at all times.”

Royal Mail said it was “genuinely sorry” for the inconvenience caused and was working on finding a “permanent solution”.

Another resident, William Palmer, said his street is the nearest one with public parking to the Royal Mail offices on nearby Hanham Road.

He said “most days” there could be up to 15 Royal Mail vans parked on the road.

“They’re often parked up on the kerb and they’ve got their staff parking there as well.

“We know that parking space isn’t guaranteed because it is public parking, but having an additional 10 or 15 cars or vans there every day does mean we’re now parking much, much further down,” he added.

A spokesperson for Royal Mail, said: “We have used these roads on a temporary basis while we secure suitable alternative parking for our vehicles.

“We’re progressing this quickly and already have some arrangements in place.

“We’re genuinely sorry for the disruption this has caused to residents, and want to reassure them that we’re focused on putting a permanent solution in place.”
