Royal Mail warns 15 Scottish postcodes hit by delivery disruption – full UK list revealed

Royal Mail warns 145 UK postcodes, including 15 in Scotland, are facing delivery delays due to local staff shortages.

Royal Mail has warned that 145 postcodes across the UK are currently facing delivery disruption, including 15 Scottish postcodes. The postal operator said local staff shortages and other regional issues mean some areas will not receive daily deliveries as usual.

The company told customers it aims to deliver six days a week but that “high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors” have affected some offices. Royal Mail said: “In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.”

It added: “We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.” The service apologised for the disruption, saying: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

Royal Mail said the list of affected postcodes is updated daily on its website and that, at present, several delivery depots across the UK are affected, with knock-on effects for nearby areas. The company stressed that its air and road transport networks remain on schedule and that all mail processed at sorting centres over the past 24 hours was dispatched as planned, Mirror reported.

Among the Scottish areas affected are parts of Dundee, Aberdeen and Glasgow, together with postcodes covering Brechin, Peterhead, Kirkcaldy, Lanark and Lochgelly. Royal Mail has urged customers in impacted postcodes to check the live list before making delivery enquiries.

Thirteen English regions and several locations in Wales and Northern Ireland are also included on the list, which ranges from Hull and Shrewsbury to Penarth and Banbridge. The service advised that rotating deliveries will help spread any delays rather than leaving a small number of customers without any service for prolonged periods.
