Royal Mail warns of delays in 13 Scots postcodes due to Covid-related staff shortages

SCOTS have been warned to expect delays to their deliveries after a huge surge in postal staff self-isolating.

Royal Mail confirmed yesterday that 13 postcodes in Scotland are set for a slower service in the coming days due to the Covid-related issues.

Which Scottish areas are impacted by the Royal Mail delays?

The affected areas include suburbs of Glasgow and Aberdeen, as well as parts of Perth and towns in Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire.

A further 43 postcodes across the UK are set to be impacted by the delays.

Royal Mail services also struggled over Christmas under the weight of extra sick days, resourcing problems and “other local factors”.

The bad news follows delays at a similar time last year across 28 UK postcodes – but that figure has now doubled.

And the “pingdemic” last July forced further sluggishness in various parts of the country.

Royal Mail apologised for the inconvenience and said it plans to “rotate deliveries” to minimise the delays – meaning some areas will temporarily see slower posting times.
