Royal Mail warns of Hampshire delivery delays as Havant hit by more postal issues

Royal Mail has warned Hampshire residents in a certain postal area that delays are to be expected.

This morning (January 24), Royal Mail took to their website to issue an update on areas across the UK where delivery delays are being experienced.

Of the 10 locations mentioned, one is in Hampshire and has already had issues with its deliveries over the last few weeks.

The PO9-10 areas of Havant have been hit by delays, with a number of issues flagged as a potential cause.

Prior to Christmas, the area was hit with postal delays alongside a hub in Southampton.

Royal Mail also apologised earlier this month after delays to deliveries in areas in Hampshire including Havant as the company was hit with “high levels of sickness absence and Covid related self-isolation”.

Taking to their website today, a company spokesperson said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as COVID-related self isolation, high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.

“In those cases we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

Updates will be regularly provided on the Royal Mail website regarding the issues faced in Havant and across other locations.
