Royal Mail has issued a warning as thousands of Brits could see delays to their deliveries today.
The delays could affect customers in more than 30 UK postcodes. Earlier today, the postal group reported “significant disruption” to mail centres affecting four UK regions. Royal Mail said that mail centres in Gatwick, London Central, Manchester, Preston, and the South Midlands reported that not all mail was processed or despatched to schedule over the past weekend.
In an update to its website, it said: “The mail centres below reported not all mail was processed or despatched to schedule over the past weekend. As a result, some mail may be delivered later than planned.”
Royal Mail delivers from Monday to Saturday, with first-class letters delivered one day after dispatch and second-class letters delivered two days after. However, sometimes the firm experiences delays. The delays can consist of disruptions to its air, road, rail, or mail centre networks or local factors.

Local issues have also disrupted almost a dozen Royal Mail delivery offices across the UK with 14 further postcodes affected. On its website, Royal Mail says that sometimes factors, which include high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors, can temporarily impact deliveries.
It explained: “In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.” Some of the affected offices confirmed today are in Barrhead, Barrow In Furness, Glasgow and Huntington.

Gatwick, BN and RH – Some mail posted in the BN and RH postcode areas due for delivery today in other parts of the UK may arrive later than planned.
London Central, EC, N, W1 and W – Some mail posted in the EC, N, W1 and WC postcode areas due for delivery today in other parts of the UK may arrive later than planned.
Manchester, BL, M 0L and S – Some mail posted in the BL, M, OL and SK postcode areas due for delivery today in other parts of the UK may arrive later than planned.
Preston, BB, FY, LA and PR – Some mail posted in the BB, FY, LA and PR postcode areas due for delivery today in other parts of the UK may arrive later than planned.
South Midland, CV, LE, MK and NN – Some mail posted in other parts of the UK, due for delivery today in the CV, LE, MK and NN postcode areas may arrive later than planned.
