Royal Mail Woes Continue As Strikes Planned Throughout December Including Christmas Eve

The saga continues for Royal Mail as crisis talks with the Communication Workers Union (CWU) have not progressed. With neither side looking to concede to the other, continued strike action is now being planned throughout December causing real concerns for Royal Mail and its customers.

This battle has been rolling on for a number of months now with many eCommerce sellers hopeful a resolution would be reached and a return to normal for those that used the Royal Mail services for their business.

Even with all of the ongoing negotiations, the CWU stands by its claims that Royal Mail is trying to cut costs and ensure its workers get a much worse deal than they believe they are entitled to.

Yesterday the CWU tweeted details of the latest ‘offer’ from Royal Mail on their official Twitter account and noted how it had been rejected by the CWU executives.

Royal Mail Christmas Delivery Dates Likely Affected

In response to the ongoing failure to reach terms, the CWU has released a large number of strike dates throughout December, aimed at causing maximum disruption to the company in its busiest time of the year.

Most notable are the strike dates of Friday and Saturday the 23rd and 24th of December. If the strikes go ahead this is going to cause almost certain disruption to the delivery before Christmas dates that all courier companies announce to ensure customers know when they will expect their items.

As Royal Mail continue to blame the CWU for the disruption and the CWU continues to blame Royal Mail for alleged profiteering and not looking after their workers, it is the general public and businesses that are going to be most affected.

Strike action is also due to take place this week and next week to disrupt the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales period.
