A Royal Mail worker was punched in the stomach and robbed of packages in a daylight “assault”, police sad. The alleged incident unfolded at around 11am on Wednesday, December 17, in Goyt View, Newtown, in the High Peak, when the postwoman – a woman in her 30s – was carrying out her delivery round.
Police said the alleged victim was approached by two people, believed to have arrived in a white Ford Transit van. The force said they appeared to be highway maintenance workers. During the reported incident, one of the individuals punched the woman in the stomach, Derbyshire Police said. Packages were later stolen from her red Royal Mail van, the force added.
Now the force has issued an appeal in a bid to find the two individuals.
They have been described as:
Person 2: Of unknown gender, white, aged in their 30s or early 40s, wearing a grey tracksuit, a yellow high-visibility vest, and a dark-coloured baseball cap.
Officers said they have been following several lines of enquiry, but are now urging the public to come forward as part of a fresh appeal.
Detectives are particularly keen to hear from anyone with CCTV or doorbell footage from the area at the time, as well as drivers who may have dashcam footage showing the suspects or the white Transit van.
A police spokersperson said: “Of particular interest are anyone with CCTV or doorbell footage from the area at the time, as well as any drivers with dashcam footage.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Derbyshire Constabulary using any of the below methods, including reference 25*735992”.
The force can be contacted via its website, with a private message on their Facebook page or by calling 101.
