About 115,000 Royal Mail workers are set to strike in the coming weeks in a move that will likely cause widespread disruption to deliveries across the country.
While no dates have yet been announced, an overwhelming 97.6 per cent of the members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) voted in favour of strikes on a 77 per cent turnout.
Unless a negotiated settlement can be agreed in the coming weeks, postal workers across about 1,500 workplaces will walk out from their roles in what is set to be the biggest industrial action taken by workers this summer.
However, there is still hope of a negotiated settlement after Dave Ward, general secretary, said that there was a “small window” of opportunity for further talks.
