Royal Mail’s last Christmas posting dates for 2024 issued

As Christmas gets ever closer and closer, people should take note of the Royal Mail and Post Office’s last posting dates for 2024. Some deadlines are fast approaching, and some have already passed.

If you’re only sending within the UK, don’t worry – the last posting dates aren’t for a little while. For 2nd Class Post, the cut-off is Wednesday, December 18; for 1st Class Post, it’s Friday, December 20.

For post sent via Royal Mail Tracked 24, the deadline is Saturday, December 21, and for Special Delivery Guaranteed, it’s Monday, December 23.

However, if you’re sending internationally, you may have already missed your chance. Different dates apply for international posting depending on whether you send from a Post Office or directly with Royal Mail. If you’re sending post via International Economy, most deadlines have already passed for non-European countries.

If you’re using International Tracking and Signature services, depending on your destination, you need to send your package by December 7, 9, 11, 13 or 16. For International Standard (Untracked), the deadline has passed. Check the specifics of your desination country here.

If you’re planning to send post to someone in the Royal Forces, be aware that the deadline for Operational HM Forces has passed.

When it comes to the Post Office’s last Christmas posting dates, they’re a bit earlier than Royal Mail’s.

If you’re using International Tracking and Signature services, the deadlines are December 2, 3, 6 and 10, depending on the destination. The deadline for all other types of sending has passed.
