Royal opera House brings Puccini’s La bohème to Prestatyn Scala

THE lyrical genius of Puccini will sing out from the Prestatyn Scala next month.

The composer’s incredible La bohème will be presented by the Royal Opera House live to the cinema on Wednesday, January 29 at 7.45pm.

Puccini’s opera of young love in 19th-century Paris is packed with beautiful arias, celebratory choruses for Act II’s evocation of Christmas Eve in the Latin Quarter and a poignant final scene over which the composer himself wept.

Richard Jones’ character-led production perfectly captures the blend of tragedy and comedy of the penniless poet Rodolfo and the gravely ill seamstress Mimi.

The cast features some of the greatest interpreters of Puccini’s bohemian lovers performing today, as well as former members of The Royal Opera’s Jette Parker Young Artists Programme.

Tickets are £16 from prestatyn.merlincinemas.co.uk.
